The Charlottetown Airport launched their first ever holiday food drive today in support of the Upper Room Food Bank. Passengers and staff can drop off donations via a food box in the terminal building now till Christmas.
The food box will be located in the airline check-in area for passengers wishing to donate non-perishable food items, pet food and personal items.
“Last year we did a holiday food drive with staff only and it was a big success so we thought why not open this up to passengers as well,” says Vanessa Smith, Manager, Marketing & Communications at the Charlottetown Airport Authority. “People are in the spirit of giving this time of year and we hope passengers will consider giving before their travels.”
The Charlottetown Food Bank’s top five items needed are canned meat, canned fruit, soups, canned vegetables and beans. The airport also wishes to remind passengers who have any un-opened oversized liquids or gels (like jams or maple syrup) not accepted through screening that the food box would be an excellent option for these items.
The food drive will run until Wednesday, December 18th.
