Charlottetown Airport on Pace for a Record Setting Summer

Almost mid-way through August, the Charlottetown Airport is seeing record passenger numbers in what is expected to result in the busiest summer ever for the airport. Passenger stats show the month of July had the most passengers ever in one month as 52,754 made their way through our facilities. This surpassed last year’s record setting August at 52,101 passengers.

“Year to date, traffic is up 4% for overall. We have seen tremendous growth here at the airport over the last number of years and this summer is no exception. To hit a record number of passengers in the month of July is fantastic and all forecasts point to us exceeding that number in August,” says Charlottetown Airport Authority CEO, Doug Newson.

Monthly passenger stats show an increase year over year every month since the spring, as May (+5.5%), June (+9.8%) and July (+9.7%) all produced record monthly results.

“Tourism is up, the weather has been fantastic, the dollar is attractive to American’s…it’s the perfect combination. I think by year’s end we will see another record year for our airport.”
