YYG Charlottetown Airport - ATB Expansion Project
YYG Charlottetown Airport (YYG) is Prince Edward Island’s only commercial airport with scheduled air service. As a key piece of infrastructure for PEI, it is critical that we provide sufficient capacity and infrastructure to support the movement of people and goods in an efficient, safe, and sustainable manner. The ATB expansion project will allow us to increase capacity and provide for a more sustainable and efficient operation, all with a long-term view to deliver on our mission to provide a convenient, modern, and sustainable airport that connects people and drives economic growth in Prince Edward Island
In 2019, the Charlottetown Airport Authority Inc. (CAA) completed a 2040 Airport Master Plan. The primary goal of our Master Plan is to provide a framework for the future development of our land and facilities in a responsible manner. The plan considers all aspects of our operations, the financial viability of future investments, and environmental stewardship.
The 2040 Master Plan identified a number of infrastructure improvements required immediately to address not only our current market demand but to meet projected growth for air travel in and out of Prince Edward Island. After a 3-year delay due to the pandemic, the Charlottetown Airport Authority Inc. board of directors approved the initiation of the ATB Expansion Project in November 2022.
