New YYG-Punta Cana Route and Return of YYG-Cancun Service with Air Transat

Charlottetown, PEI – The Charlottetown Airport Authority (CAA) is pleased to welcome Air Transat’s announcement of expanded service from Charlottetown Airport (YYG) for the upcoming season. Air Transat has announced a new weekly non-stop route connecting Charlottetown to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic, beginning mid-December 2026. In addition, Air Transat confirms the return of its popular weekly non-stop service between Charlottetown and Cancun International Airport (CUN) for winter 2027.

“We are incredibly pleased to see Air Transat build on the strong response to their inaugural Cancun service this past winter and expand their presence at YYG with not one, but two sun destinations for Islanders this coming season,” said Doug Newson, CEO of the Charlottetown Airport Authority. “The return of the Cancun route and the addition of Punta Cana reflect the growing demand for direct winter travel from Prince Edward Island and reinforce YYG’s role as a true gateway for our region. We look forward to welcoming travellers on both routes.”

Both routes will operate once weekly on Wednesdays. The new YYG–Punta Cana service will launch mid-December 2026, while the returning YYG–Cancun service will resume in February 2027. Full schedule details and booking information will be available at airtransat.com.

The Charlottetown Airport Authority looks forward to working with Air Transat as the season approaches and to welcoming Islanders on board both services.
